He thinks we’re seeing each other, I think we’re dating: Communication Fail. We’re both on the same page, just uh, looking at different words? So I gave this stupid syntax wayyyyy more thought than it ever deserved.

I’m a writer, I think that’s why this confusion bothers me.

It’s reached the point where I’ll mention him to my friends, the dude’s got potential. Like the difference between the B and D train: one easily gets you to the American Museum of Natural History, the other zooms you up to 125th leaving you wondering what the hell you did wrong and OMG am I in Harlem!? Annnnnd….a lot of other people think the exact opposite… “Seeing” can be applied to your friend with benefits, your ex, and tonight’s Bumble date. Maybe I need to change my wording when I write about dating, since I frequently do…

Recently I realized I don’t even know how to talk about potential fellas to my ! Things are going well, but it’s still new, still casual. Turns out a lot of people agree with my take on these two words! Put it together and POOF the word “dating” elevates to a greater level of seriousness. I might feel a little old-fashioned in my DATING vs SEEING beliefs.

" SMART BOY:"No, we've been on a couple dates, but we're not official."3) Boy:"Will you go out with me?

dating is when you're not going on dates with anyone else, and ***THE GUY HAS ASKED THE GIRL TO BE HIS GIRLFRIEND.*** (or the girl has asked to be his girlfriend, or they decided amongst themselves that they were officially "dating"/"going out"; etc.)2) dating is facebook official. Examples: 1) Girl:"So I went on a date with Tom this weekend." Girl's friend:"So are you dating him now?

" Girl:"Probably not, he's a boy, so he probably doesn't know the difference between going on dates and dating, and thinks that one date means we're dating.

Other websites may also have an option for this however.Seeing some means you may just be friends or aquaintances and enjoy each others company, but you can each go your separate ways and date whom you want.Going out on a date means that you are dating to get to know the person because you are attracted to each other and may want to steady date in the future.'Intra' means inside of something i.e., 'intraoffice dating' means you are dating someone from inside the same office that you work in.'Inter' means between two things i.e., 'interoffice dating' means that you are dating someone from a the same company but in an office different from the one you currently work in.

  1. But being subtle is more the way to go here, it seems. You know what would make my answer here more interesting is if I hold back on my usual diplomacy. But they often come from somewhere, while still being, to many, unfair. Couldn't help it." Those of you who search the internet to figure out how to win a Swedish guy's heart, it won't tell you there.
